Jun 26, 2010 Paris
A local guide shows you the city's most famous monuments and sites this morningfrom Notre Dame and the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde. In the afternoon, enjoy a trip to Louis XIV's palace at Versailles, including the Hall of Mirrors. (B,D)

Jun 27, 2010 Paris
Travel to Claude Monet's home in Giverny, inspiration for his water lilies paintings. (In the event that Giverny is closed, an excursion to the Musée d'Orsay will be substituted.) Enjoy an optional Train Bleu dinner. (B,D)

Learning Objectives
  • Students will contrast the tranquil richness of rural France to the harsh experience of German occupation during WWII, with a visit to Oradour sur Glane.
  • Students will come to understand the possibilities of garden as art in their visit to Giverny.
  • Students will become aware of the influence the Roman Empire had on this locality and its development by seeing the amphitheatre in Arles and the Pont du Gard aqueduct.
