The morning is free to visit the Centre Pompidou or the Rodin Museum. An afternoon tour with a local guide shows you Paris' monumentsfrom Notre Dame to the Eiffel Tower. Later this afternoon use your ACIS Walking Tour to discover the magnificent Louvre. (B,D)

This morning enjoy an excursion to Claude Monet's home in Giverny. Explore the beautiful gardens and lily ponds that inspired his famous water lily paintings. Afternoon excursion to Versailles, home of Louis XIV,including a bike ride! Return to Paris and enjoy exploration time this evening. (B,D)

Learning Objectives
  • Students will contrast the tranquil richness of rural France to the harsh experience of German occupation during WWII, with a visit to Oradour sur Glane.
  • Students will come to understand the possibilities of garden as art in their visit to Giverny.
  • Students will become aware of the influence the Roman Empire had on this locality and its development by seeing the amphitheatre in Arles and the Pont du Gard aqueduct.
