DAY 1
— OVERNIGHT FLIGHT Depart from the USA.
DAY 2
— BARCELONA Arrive in Spain's second-largest city, and meet your ACIS Tour Manager. Unpack, relax and start to explore.
DAY 3
— BARCELONA Discover Barcelona's highlights—elegant Las Ramblas, the Olympic Stadium, the Gothic Quarter with its Gothic Cathedral and Parc Güell—on your guided tour. This afternoon is free to explore more of the sights on your own. You may wish to visit the Picasso Museum or Gaudí's Casa Batlló. Before dinner, partake in a
Trencadís workshop and create your own piece of art to take home. DAY 4
— PROVENCE Cross the Pyrénées to France. Your first stop is the medieval city of Carcassonne, whose ramparts and towers are so well-preserved that they have been featured in movies. Continue through vineyards to Provence.
DAY 5
— NICE Visit the Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct, and the city of Arles, with its Roman Arena. Then drive east, stopping en route to learn about regional specialties in
Taste of the Mediterranean where you will discover and sample regional favorites such as tapenade, caviar de tomates and a variety of locally produced oils. Continue to Nice, the Queen of the Riviera. DAY 6
— NICE Morning sightseeing shows you Nice's spectacular beauty, including the Promenade des Anglais. In the afternoon, explore the perched village of Eze, where you learn about the local art of perfume making. Continue to the tiny principality of Monaco, famous for the Grand Prix, Cousteau's Oceanographic Institute, and its royal family.
DAY 7
— FLORENCE Follow the coast to Italy, where you visit Pisa and see its Leaning Tower. Continue to Florence, the Cradle of the Renaissance. Stroll the streets from where Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci drew inspiration.
DAY 8
— ROME Morning sightseeing of Florence with a local guide and personal headsets shows you the Duomo, Florence's vast cathedral, and Santa Croce, burial place of many of Italy's greats. Gaze upon Michelangelo's David with a timed entrance to the Accademia, then fit in a little time for shopping before heading south to Rome.
DAY 9
— ROME Today's sightseeing tour introduces you to every phase of Rome's history with a panoramic drive of the city. In addition, your local guide accompanies you through the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel, and continues to St. Peter's Basilica, giving commentary via personal headsets. Later, an inside visit to the Colosseum is included. Tonight, enjoy a pizza dinner, Roman style.
DAY 10
— DEPARTURE Depart for the USA.
