Your ACIS Registration Fee includes Basic Protection coverage (see below), of which certain portions are underwritten by The Insurance Company of the State of Pennsylvania (AIG), under policy GLB9111595. This protection is automatically in force during your ACIS trip. ACIS recommends that participants purchase the Ultimate Protection Plan designed specifically for your travel needs.
The 2008 Ultimate Protection Plan allows you to cancel for any reason up to the day of departure and receive a cash refund. In addition to the cash refund, the deductible amount on any participant's cancellation will be returned to them in the form of an ACIS Travel Credit Voucher, good for use on a future trip with ACIS.

The minimum deposit of $95 does not include the Comprehensive Protection Plan or the Ultimate Protection Plan. A total of $495 ($95 Registration Fee plus $400 in program fees), plus the cost of the Protection Plan must be received in order to activate your plan. The Ultimate Protection Plan must be purchased by the Full Payment Deadline (see Registration Booklet for details). The Comprehensive Protection Plan must be purchased 65 days before departure.
Refund Policies
Should you have to cancel for a non-insured reason, our refund and substitution policy is outlined below. We can only process cancellations upon receipt of a cancellation letter and the return of any airline tickets that have been issued on your behalf. *Program Cancellation and Program Interruption
The cancellation and program interruption policies apply only to persons who cancel due to a listed insured reason. Notification must be given in writing within seven days of an occurrence:
- If you or a member of your immediate family (spouse, child, parent, grandparent, sibling or legal guardian) are seriously injured or become ill.
- If, in the event a group leader cancels a scheduled trip because he/she or a member of his/her immediate family (spouse, child, parent, grandparent, sibling or legal guardian) becomes seriously ill or injured and no replacement can be found, requiring all participants assigned to such group leader to cancel their trip, payment will not exceed $4800 in total for all participants assigned to such group leader.
- If an adult participant or either parent/ legal guardian of a student participant is laid-off (which must be documented with the appropriate forms from the Social Security Administration), notification must be made to ACIS within seven days of job termination for this benefit to be in force.
**Medical and Other Cancellation and Interruption
The Company pays up to $400 for a covered trip cancellation for the Basic, Comprehensive, and Ultimate Plans. The balance is refunded by ACIS as part of the "Refund Protection Plan," outlined in the Protection Brochure sent to participants upon enrollment.
Travel Accident Protection
AIG provides $25,000 coverage for accidental death and lower amounts for other accidents. For participants age 66 and older, this coverage is reduced to $20,000. The maximum aggregate total payable under this policy for all ACIS participants is $1,000,000, and benefits may be reduced if this maximum is exceeded.
Additional Travel Security Waiver— Non U.S. Destination Trips
This waiver covers cases of political instability and is provided by ACIS as part of the Basic Protection Plan. Through this waiver, participants will receive a full refund (less the $95 Registration fee, Ultimate or Comprehensive Protection Plan fee and any visa fees, if applicable) if: 1) The U.S. Department of State states there has been a terrorist attack against U.S. interests and 2) the U.S. Department of State issues an official Travel Warning that Americans should not travel to any country visited on the itinerary and 3) the official Travel Warning is issued or in effect within 90 days prior to departure.
Additional Travel Security Waiver— U.S. Destination Trips
This waiver covers cases of political instability and is provided by ACIS as part of the Basic Protection Plan. Through this waiver, participants on U.S. trips will receive a full refund (less the $95 Registration fee, Comprehensive or Ultimate Protection Plan fee and any visa fees, if applicable) if the U.S. Department of State states there has been a terrorist attack against U.S. interests within 90 days of departure and within 50 miles of a city being visited.

ACIS Travel Credit Voucher Information
- The Travel Credit Voucher is fully transferable to another participant.
- The original voucher must accompany the registration form upon enrollment.
- The Travel Credit Voucher cannot be divided among participants and only one Travel Credit Voucher per participant is permitted.
- Participants canceling a program paid for using an ACIS Travel Credit Voucher will be charged a cancellation fee in the amount of their ACIS Travel Credit Voucher, or cancellation fees associated with that program, whichever is higher.
- The Travel Credit Voucher can only be redeemed toward program fees and is not redeemable for cash, nor is it a merchandise credit or gift certificate.
THE SCOPE OF ALL BASIC, COMPREHENSIVE, AND ULTIMATE PROTECTION PROVIDED WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE TERMS OF THE AIG POLICY, WHICH ARE ONLY SUMMARIZED ABOVE. A COPY OF THE "HEALTH AND PROGRAM CANCELLATION/INTERRUPTION COVERAGE" BROCHURE IS SENT TO PARTICIPANTS UPON ENROLLMENT.
