This itinerary is the starting point for your tour, but it’s not set in stone. If there are days you would like to change, or specific places you’d like to go, we can work with you to create a personalized program that fits the needs of you and your students.
Depart from the USA on Sunday. Arrive in Liberia where you will be met at the airport and transferred to your host families in Sámara Beach. The afternoon is free to unpack and explore.
Classes will be held in small groups of six students for four hours daily at your mid-sized Spanish language school established to offer all the advantages of an intensive Spanish language program at a beautiful Pacific Costa Rican beach campus.
Students will have shared rooms. Breakfast and dinner will be taken with the host families and lunch will be arranged at a local restaurant by the school.
Your family stay at the beach is definitely a rural experience. Houses are simple, rustic, and they do not have hot water (this is not considered a necessity in the tropical climate). Many of the houses are within walking distance, and students who live a little farther out often rent bicycles to reach school. Some families rent their own bicycles and other rentals are available in town. There is no ACIS Tour Manager included for this program.
All activities are included, with the school reserving the flexibility to determine the schedule and select which days work best locally.
This morning, visit the language school for orientation and an assessment of your level of Spanish. You will attend your first group Spanish language class, then enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, learn to prepare traditional Costa Rican dishes during a hands-on cooking lesson, followed by a lively Latin dance lesson. Later, enjoy dinner with your host family and experience an authentic evening of Costa Rican hospitality before settling in for the night.
After breakfast with your host family, hit the waves for a surfing lesson on Sámara's beautiful beach. Refuel with lunch at a local restaurant, then attend your group class at the language school. Dinner and overnight are with your host families.
In the morning, attend your group class at the language school. Lunch is at a local restaurant. Then the afternoon is yours to choose an activity or leisure time: join a yoga class, practice your surfing, or relax on the beach. Dinner and overnight are with your host families.
This morning's excursion takes you to the rainforest, where you can ride the zip-lines and experience a unique ecosystem up-close on a canopy tour. Return to town and have lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon attend your group class at the language school. Dinner and overnight are with your host families.
Attend your final morning group class at the language school. Then enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, participate in a hands-on coral reef restoration project to learn about the local reef ecosystem and community conservation efforts. Dinner and overnight are with your host families.
After breakfast, visit the town's vibrant farmers market and enjoy the chance to interact and practice your Spanish with local vendors offering fresh produce, handmade crafts and artisinal products. Lunch is at a local restaurant. Then the afternoon is yours to spend time on the beach, surf, or join an optional tour. This evening, enjoy a final dinner and overnight stay with your host families.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport in Liberia for your return flight to the USA.
Please note when selecting your travel date that the school is closed for Christmas and Easter Holidays, as well as September 15th and December 1st.
